必要なのは雨と太陽 / all you need is a bit of rain and sunshine

気がついたらもう６月も終わり．．今月はとっても早かった。
夏至も過ぎちゃったし、今年も半分が終わる。残り半分楽しもう。

最近実家で趣味で借りている畑の世話をしてます。
いつも世話をしている母にやり方を聞いたりして、なんだか見よう見まねでやってます。
スナップエンドウがちょうど1ヶ月くらい前に収穫時期を終えたので、畑を耕して、ピーマン、なす、キュウリ、ミニトマト、シシトウの苗を植えました。
ずっと天気がよくなかったけど、それなりに成長して、先日初ピーマンを収穫。
オーブンで焼いてショウガ醤油で試食。味は特別ではないけど、自分が育てた分、ちょっと嬉しい。
ミニトマトは苗の時点で実のついているのがあったけど、未だに赤くならない。
太陽が少ないからかな。
シシトウは小さいのが育ってる。キュウリとなすはようやく花が咲き始めたので、そろそろ実がなるかな。
週末しかお世話できないから、急激に成長しちゃうとちょっと心配。
今日も凄く暑かったけど、最近太陽が出てる日が増えたので、今週末は他の野菜もたくさん成長している気がする。。
それとずいぶん前に植えたジャガイモがそろそろ収穫時期を迎える。
今週末は忙しい。

I've been taking care of the vegetables in the garden near my parent's house. 
My mom is usually the one to take care of, but I am helping her this year under her supervision. 
I planted green pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, egg plant and some more about a month ago, and now they are growing a lot. 
We did not have enough sunshine for a while, but it has been nice and shiny (and extremely hot), so I am expecting they will be a lot bigger than last weekend..
Last weekend, I picked a very first green pepper and cooked for myself.  Though the taste is nothing special, I felt special to eat it first. 
Other vegetables are almost ready, too. .. hopefully this weekend...

I can only go on the weekends, so I feel a little anxious that they may have grown too big by now....  well, as long as they are standing straight, that should be OK. 
This weekend,, the potatoes which were planted a long time ago should be ready to be dug. 
I guess I will be happy busy this weekend :)

さよなら そら食堂 ／ Sora Shokudo forever!

昨年１１月に友達がオープンしたばかりのカフェがさまざまな事情で６月５日をもって閉店してしまった。

吉祥寺・井の頭公園のすぐそばで、黄色い派手なワゴンでレゲエをかけながら、ジャマイカ発祥のジャークチキンサンドをメインに販売してました。
そら食堂という名前の通り、建物はなく、駐車場の敷地に手作りのテーブルやベンチ、テントを並べたカフェで、吉祥寺や井の頭公園の緑に合う、すごーく自由な場所。
ウッドデッキを作り、テントを建て、ちょっとずつ居心地の良い空間を作って行き、冬もストーブやビニールの囲いでしのいで．．　そんなふうに少しずつ手作りで出来上がって行くのを見ていたので、いきなりの閉店は結構ショック。せめて夏を越してほしかった。青空の下、蝉の声を聞きながら、暑い野外でのビールとジャークチキンはおいしかっただろうな。
一番残念なのは本人だとは思うけど。。
一人でふらりと行く事が多かったので、楽しい人たちともたくさん出会った。
これからも続く関係を築けただけでもそら食堂は私の中で大きな意味を持つ。

最後の日は、常連さんや友達がたくさん集まり、そら食堂を楽しみました。
ラストは世界を放浪して来たレゲエミュージシャンのフラさんが、２５年前に井の頭公園で歌っていたという、すっごいかっこ良くてハッピーな曲で締めてくれた。

青ちゃん、さおりちゃん、ありがとうね。今回は一旦さよならだけど、これからもよろしくー。これからの活躍を楽しみにしてるよー。


For many reasons, my friends' cafe, Sora Shokudo, had to close down last weekend.  It has been only 7months  since its open in last November... It was sad to hear the sudden news.

It was an open-air truck cafe located just by the really big park, Inokashira Park in Kichijoji.  Main menu was Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and it was really fun place to hang out.  No walls, but just tent, tables and benches.  The atmosphere was just perfect to have good time.   
It was really a hand-made cafe. It started out only with a yellow truck, then build a wooden deck, tent, and more to make it comfortable.  
It was covered by the plastic curtains to keep away from the cold air during the winter.   They made many arrangements time to time to make things better. 
Because I've been seeing their challenges and improvements, it is sad to see them leave so fast..   I wanted enjoy summer there.  It would been great to have a glass of beer and jerk chicken sandwiches under the sun...  It is pity, really. 

There, I met many fun people, too. 
On the last day,  all the regulars and friends partied and enjoyed the last hang out at the cafe.
The party went on for long time, and I am sure everyone had great time drinking, eating, talking, singing, laughing and sharing. 


Again, it is pity, but I really want to say thank you for all the power I got and meeting with new people there. 
I really wish their good luck on the next step :)
